Wild Horses in the American West

Deanne Stillman, award winning author, will read from her new book, Mustang—The Saga of the Wild Horse in the American West, on Wednesday, October 15th at 6pm at the Ketchum Community Library.  This is a must for anyone who cares
about horses.  The wild horses need us all to speak out on their behalf.  To learn more about the plight of the Mustang, check out the website at www.rushprnews.com/2008/09/17/bureau-
of-land-management-plans-to-kill-wild-horses/.

Elissa Kline, local photographer, will also be displaying a few of her life size wild horses printed on fabric and will show a multi-media presentation.  A question and answer session will follow the presentation.  Be sure to attend the stirring exhibit and presentation.

It is Time!!!  The colors are a changing, it is getting cooler and the elk are bugling.  So, there you are. You’ve been planning all year and all of a sudden——-it is hunting season.  All the supplies you have been meaning to get are still sitting at your local outfitter store.  So, quit watching football, turn off the TV and come on down to Sawtooth Tack & Feed for all of your hunting and fall needs.  We have expanded our packing section to include sawbuck and decker pack saddles, hard and soft panniers, rifle scabbards, and just about everything you need to pack in and out.   We also have Predator camouflage clothing and packs in stock.  This clothing line sports a very nice pattern of various seasons and we can also order any other item from Predator you wish.  What else do ya need?  Flashlights? Knives? Saws? Rope? Carhartts? Well, we got em.  For you horsemen……...we carry a complete line of feed products.  Regular baled hay and compressed certified bales.  Treat your trusty steed to some horse candy.  And coming very soon……...White Pac boots and Leupold optics!   So stop on by and let’s talk huntin' and backcountry
.

A Big Thank You to.....

Stick Flaherty and Robyn Kenney for sharing their packing expertise at Sawtooth Tack & Feed’s outfitting demonstration which took place on September 13th.  This educational afternoon resulted in a new group of folks wanting to get out and camp with their horses, and helped already experienced packers with tips to make life easier on the trail.  Stick helped with horse and mule packing info, and Robyn shared her knowledge of packing with goats.  We all also enjoyed munching on Picabo Lean’s wonderful burgers—thanks again to Katie Breckinridge and Rob Struthers for donating their amazing hamburgers for the event.

Fall Fun Jumper Show

Sawtooth Pony Club will be holding their annual Fun Jumper Show and Fundraiser on Sunday, Oct 12th, at Bell Mountain Farm in Bellevue, ID.  On Saturday, Oct 11th, they will offer a Sara Mittleider clinic.  Sara will be designing the jumper courses and judge the show on Sunday.  They will be offering fun classes at the end of the jumper show which include the hotly contested Costume Class (includes your horse).  There will also be a used tack sale and concessions during the show as part of their Fundraiser.  You don’t have to be a Pony Clubber to participate!  Entry forms are available at Sawtooth Tack and Feed and by contacting Sarah Keppner at Bell Mountain Farm at 208-316-1212.  Get out and have some fun with your horse before the snow flies!

Can We Be Thinking About Next Summer Already???

The Craig Cameron clinic put on by Sawtooth Tack & Feed was such a huge hit with the folks who attended that we will be sponsoring another one next August 2009.  This will be a five day clinic, Thursday through Monday, August 6-10.  Mark your calendars for fun and education with Craig’s Ride Smart clinic—this event will coincide with ST&F’s Cowboy Race 2009.  Call us here at the store for more info—208-788-8225.
